Graduate Profile of Cultural Tourism

On successful completion of the B.A (Hons) in Cultural Tourism graduates, will have knowledge in   the field of Tourism and related sub-disciplines. They will be able to promote have an understanding of the concept of non-renewable cultural resources through policy, law, and public education. They should have a broader perception of differing, conflicting, and evolving concepts and their impact on policy and practice. With an ability to both work in and lead teams effectively, the graduates will  act autonomously in planning and implementing Tourism related  tasks.

Programme Attributes of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Archaeology

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) of graduates in Cultural Tourism of the University of Jaffna will have the following attributes.

 Academic Excellence:

  • Having a clear knowledge of the core content of the cultural tourism of thought and possess the specific skills of the cultural tourism
  • Interpret and explain the origin and evolutional history of culture, heritage and cultural tourism as a well-known industry at present in all over the world
  • Apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques for data gathering, processing, and analysis in cultural tourism research and
  • Able to apply numerical and analytical skills to gather and analyze data and information scientifically, draw inferences and arrive at the conclusion.

Employability

  • Propose cultural heritage artifacts-exhibitions, workshops, cultural heritage tours, seminars, Field studies, etc., need to be conducted to create cultural awareness
  • Meet the challenges in the field of Cultural tourism for the preservation and conservation of the cultural heritage
  • Able to apply general and transferable skills; ICT skills and the ability to use new technological and ICT tools, Communication skills with trilingual proficiency (English, Tamil, and Sinhala), Soft skills – interpersonal skills, teamwork, time management skills, social responsibility and ethical practice and ability to meet the stakeholders’ expectations.
  • The organizational discipline and skills which are necessary for effective work habits, whether working individually or in groups in fieldwork particularly in the professional field.
